We are pleased to be able to bring to you the Ngāti Rangitihi Deed of Settlement to vote on soon, now that we have completed settlement negotiations and initialled our Deed of Settlement.

Now it is your turn. As beneficiaries of Ngāti Rangitihi, it is your right to make the ultimate decision on our settlement.

Voting Information

Voting on our initialled Deed of Settlement opens on Friday 24 July and closes at 5pm on Sunday 23 August.

You will be able to vote online, by post or by Ballot Box at the six Information Hui being held across Aotearoa in August.  The voting process will be run by Electionz.com as the Independent Returning Officer.

In a few weeks, you will receive a Voting Pack which will include an Information Booklet and your Voting Paper. This will contain an overview of our settlement package, and information relating to voting.

Information Hui

We encourage you, if you can, to attend one of our Information Hui. The Information Hui will be a great opportunity for you to find out more about our settlement package, the voting process and why we need you to vote. You will also be able to vote at these hui.

What are adult registered members voting on?

Registered members of Ngāti Rangitihi aged 18 years and over will be able to vote on the initialled Deed of Settlement. If you live overseas, you can also vote.

The Deed of Settlement is the legal document that will bind the Crown and Ngāti Rangitihi into a full and final settlement — that will then be enacted in Parliament to become law.

We need your support and your vote on the following resolution to ensure our settlement goes ahead:

I, as an Adult Registered Member of Ngāti Rangitihi agree to accept the Initialled Deed of Settlement as settlement of all historical Te Tiriti o Waitangi (Treaty of Waitangi) claims between the Crown and Ngāti Rangitihi, and agree to the Trustees of Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust signing the Deed of Settlement on behalf of Ngāti Rangitihi.
