Whakapapa Wananga

A one-day Whakapapa Wananga for Ngati Rangitihi will be held on Saturday 11 June at the Rangitihi Marae. The programme for the day is outlined below. The presenter will be Anthony Olsen, one of our Treaty researchers. The afternoon session includes a hikoi. The Wananga is one of a series of four aimed at improving whakapapa knowledge to assist iwi negotiations with the Crown. It will be videoed and posted on the website along with subtitles in Te Reo Maori. Iwi are invited to a dinner the night before (Friday 10 June) which marks the end of Ruawahia 2B Trust’s day of activities commemorating the 130 year anniversary of the Tarawera Eruption. Iwi can stay in the marae on the Friday and/or Saturday night.
