Te Reo Learning Opportunities in Auckland

E hangai ana ki to tatou rautaki reo, Te Ohoohotanga, ka timata ano etahi akoranga reo ki roto I to tatou wahi.  Aligned to our Reo Strategy, Te Ohoohotanga, learning opportunites for te reo are commencing again in Auckland.



Level: Beginner

Dates: Every Thursday commencing 1 September 2016 (during school term)

Time: 18:30 - 21:30

Venue: 7 Neilpark Drive East Tamaki

Kaiako: Kimi Te Wiata

Cost: Nil

This class is for beginners including those who believe they have no reo at all.  The Atarangi  method will form the basis of learning.  The venue will likely change as it is preferable at a home environment. There is no cost and we are looking for at least 10 participants.  If you could host this class at your house or place of work, please let Te Kapunga know.  Given our Kaiako is travelling from Ngaruawahia to deliver this for us, it is preferable to remain South (ish).


Ropu Whanake

Level: Intermediate

Dates: One Sunday per month commencing 11 September 2016

Time: 11:00 - 15:00

Venue: 23 Edwin St, Mt Eden.

Kaiako: Te Whainoa Te Wiata, Rosalie Reiri

Cost: Nil

This class is for intermediate level reo and will use a range of methods including online delivery.  The timing for this will be discussed at our first class as we have some options on dates and times.  There is no cost and we are looking for at least 10 participants. 


Kura Reo

Level: Beginner to Intermediate

Days: Friday (17:30 approx.) to Sunday (13:00 approx.)

Date: 30 September - 1 October

Venue: Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Nga Maungarongo - 140 Haverstock Rd, Mount Albert, Auckland

Kaiako: Kimi Te Wiata + TBC

Cost: Nil

This is an immersion Maori, live in learning opportunity catering for all reo levels. There is no cost for the venue, the professional kaiako, nor for catering.  In addition, there is no limit on the number of participants.  We will confirm starting time closer to the day, and intend for one of these weekend learning opportunities every school holidays (Jan 17, Apr 17).

If you have thought about reo whether that be starting to learn, or improving, this is the time.  Learn with your whanau, in a whanau environment, with direction from your wider Rangitihi whanau.  Our Kaiako are skilled in reo delivery, and can modify to suit individual and group needs, pace, and levels.  So even if you don't think you are up to it please give it a go.  The benefit our iwi based strategy and delivery is we can modify to suit.


In addition to this being delivered in Auckland, there are also Kura Reo and Wananga being delivered in Matata if you have the opportunity to head back.
