2016 Recreational Forest Access

With the damp conditions lowering the fire risk in the Forests, the recreational forest access will now open on Saturday 9 April and run through until 25 September.  This is for hunting and fishing (access) in Kaingaroa, Whirinaki and Rotoehu ONLY. 

 

If you are a registered member of Te Mana and 15 years or over, you can apply for a permit and also get a $50 waiver of the administration fee for access into the Kaingaroa Forest. To get the permit you must complete the following two forms (both available at the Te Mana office - 07 322 2452 or 3 Onewairere Place, Matatā):

Verified Land Owner Form

This form must be signed by one of three delegated iwi representatives:

·         Alana Hunter – 07 322 2452

·         Kenneth Raureti

·         Tiipene Marr.

 

Recreational access permit applicants will need to provide the following information:

 

·         Driver's License

·         Vehicle Registration Number and proof of current WOF and Registration

·         Firearms License

·         Fishing or Game Bird License

·         Duly completed FIRST Security Recreational Permit Registration Form and

       Land Owner Registration Form

 

Fishing and Hunting is closed to the public during the fire season when the fire danger (BUI) exceeds 15 (Moderate Fire Danger Level).

 

*Land owners already verified, are not required to re-verify as a land owner each year, however they are required to register each year through the FIRST Security process.
